Gulf of Mexico Catastrophe

'Wonder how/why it happened? 'Simple, really. Some corporate manager or managers 'had to make his/their numbers'. That's about all there is to it.

Does that tell you anything about what must become of corporatism if we're all to go on living?

Thumbnail Movie Review XXVIII

Title: Her Majesty Mrs. Brown
Historical drama.

It stars Judi Dench and Billy Connolly.

John Brown (Billy Connolly), a loyal and empathetic Scottish commoner takes it upon himself to revivify the widowed Queen Victoria (Judi Dench), who is inconsolable with grief after the death of her husband, Prince Albert.

Judi Dench is, as always, brilliant in her role. Highly recommended.

MCMXCVII. 105 minutes. Canadian PG rating.

Thumbnail Movie Review XXVII

Title: Capricorn One
American Science Fiction

It stars James Brolin and Elliott Gould, among others.

A manned mission to Mars lifts off without the men due to a shortcoming in the life-support gear. NASA must fake success in order to maintain its funding. Under duress, the astronauts go along with the scheme -- for awhile.

Uninspired acting mostly, but nonetheless an engaging movie. I've read that this movie had NASA's cooperation, even though NASA plays the bad guy. 'Don't suppose it was NASA's way of 'fessing up about Apollo, maybe?

MCMLXXVII. 123 minutes. Canadian PG rating.
